Webdesk, TNI Kolkata, 27th January, 2016: Ajoy Gupta’s “Baangaler Chhorachhori” an exquisite book of limericks, was launched at Oxford Book Store, Kolkata. The book reminisces his days in erstwhile East Pakistan. ‘Baangaler Chhorachhori’ pens down an emotional account of Ajoy’s memories held in laughter and tears. The book was launched by the Brand Ambassador of Kolkata, Chuni Goswami, an Olympian Footballer and Sankarlal Bhattacharjee, an eminent Litterateur, and journalist. Chuni Goswami brought much humor to the book launch saying that in spite of being a ‘Bangal’ I played for Mohun Bagan which is believed to a ‘Ghoti’ team. This proves that in spite of the numerous refugees settling in the then formed new-land, could easily mix up with the people of this West Bengal. The book narrates the story of a refugee displaced by the partition of Bengal. The book is an exemplary look back at Bengali manners and mores of times gone by. The Poet has reworked his memories into a confessional mode but offered it all in a uproarious laughter and ‘Baangal’ accents and intonation.
